Friday, February 21, 7:15-8:30pm at the Yoga Loft
The classes are taught in the tradition of Yogi Bhajan, the master of Kundalini Yoga. He brought the teachings to the West in 1969. Previously they were very secret. The practice combines breathwork (pranayam), postures (kriya), chanting (mantra), meditation and relaxation.
Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. The goal is to connect with your higher self and consciousness by ‘raising your kundalini’. Literally the word means ‘the curl in the lock of the hair of the beloved’.
Everything we do in class is designed to open the flow of energy within the body. This increases physical vitality and creativity, releases stagnant or buried emotions. Each kriya balances the chakras (energy centers) and helps increase the flow of prana (life force). Exercises incorporate bandhas (body locks) to enhance postures, align ourselves and direct the flow of energy in the body.
As a teacher I will be wearing white clothing, including a head covering. Wearing white is believed to expand the aura/magnetic field. A head covering helps one to focus and protects the energy.
The class is by donation to Kamloops United Way.
I am honoured to have this opportunity to teach Kundalini Yoga Friday evening karma classes at the Yoga Loft. I am a KRI certified teacher as I recently completed training with Sat Kaur Khalsa in Nelson BC. Kundalini Yoga has helped me through new, uncomfortable and difficult times. I look forward to compassionately sharing this technology with my community.
I invite you to come explore Kundalini Yoga and see if it feels right for you.
ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME!
